Common questions about Concussion Management
Is it true that I need to stay in a dark, quiet room in order to get better?
Appropriate rest is important for recovery, however, research has shown that if you spend too much time isolated in a dark room it can contribute to worse symptoms and a longer recovery. A fine balance of rest and activity will help your recovery progress more smoothly.
How soon after a concussion should I start physiotherapy?
Based on the statistics, 80% to 90% of concussions will get better in seven to 10 days without any kind of treatment. If you notice that your symptoms are still lingering beyond this timeframe, a concussion assessment can determine if there are issues that can be improved with proper physiotherapy treatment.
